After Friday's major storm front blew through the state, the trout were biting on the Little Red River on the weekend. Joe Castellano from Las Vegas caught this one with guide James Dillard over the weekend.
The high waters of the late winter/early spring and recent cold have kept a lot of angers off the Spring River, but guide Mark Crawford says in this week's report that this might be the perfect time to go after some trout there. Guide Greg Seaton said he had a marvelous day last week on the Little Red River as well.
Reports are coming in statewide of the bass now in their spawn and also biting well in various Arkansas lakes,
Fishing surveying at Upper and Lower White Oak Lake this week revealed a number of large bass (some in upward of 7 pounds), as the AGFC's District 6 biologists saw.
CAMDEN – Arkansas Game and Fish Commission fisheries biologists conducted electrofishing surveys of Upper and Lower White Oak Lake this week, with impressive results.
Lake Ouachita has dropped down to near full pool and the black bass are very active on the lake now, according to several of our reports. Meanwhile, rise temperatures and less rain than we saw in February have other fish becoming active.
Arkansas big northern lakes report the walleye in the spawn and very active. There are lots of opportunities now for walleye, as well as crappie and the emerging largemouth bass bite. White bass also are active as spring heads this way.
